Alembic Pharmaceuticals shares were in the spotlight Wednesday after the generic drugmaker reported more than 81% year-on-year surge in consolidated net profit to ₹335 crore during September quarter.

The profit came on a 36% increase in the revenue from operations to ₹2,603 crore.

The company also announced expansion of its collaboration with DifGen Pharmaceuticals that will help it sharpen focus on the key U.S. market.

Alembic shares touched 20% intra-day before paring gains to close nearly 13% higher at ₹907.20 apiece on the BSE.

On the Q2 FY27 results, Managing Director Pranav Amin said the “U.S business was driven by strong volume growth and new launches.

In U.S.

Branded, we are encouraged by the traction building across our existing portfolio.”

The expansion of the collaboration with DifGen provides near-term commercial opportunities and access to U.S. manufacturing capabilities besides being a capital efficient way to deepen the pipeline, strengthen quality and sustainability of Alembic’s U.S. business growth, he said.

Building on the existing relationship, including a joint venture in Canada, the expanded collaboration will combine DifGen’s development and U.S. manufacturing capabilities with Alembic’s U.S. commercial platform.

DifGen will lead development, regulatory, manufacturing and supply activities, while Alembic will manufacture select products and commercialise the portfolio in the US.

“The portfolio expands Alembic’s exposure to differentiated opportunities, particularly in transdermal systems, complex injectables and other specialised dosage forms,” Mr.Amin said.
